Our Advocacy Strategy
Vision – Outstanding healthcare and quality of life for military exceptional needs families.
Mission Alpha Advocacy (MAA) is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to achieving our vision to ensure our military forces are ready to serve, resilient in the face of adversity, retained by providing a high quality of life, and able to attract talent for recruitment by focusing on healthcare for exceptional needs families.
Lines of Effort – Healthcare, Education, Childcare, and Housing
MAA promotes evidence-based healthcare and advocates to ensure services are provided in accordance with generally accepted standards of care. We also promote access to medically necessary healthcare within the educational and childcare settings and access to ADA compliant housing for active-duty families.
Our Values - Humility, Courage, Perseverance, and Integrity
MAA’s values are enablers to our vision and are directly tied to our focus areas. To expand partnerships requires humility to acknowledge our need for different perspectives and expertise to achieve a greater good. To engage with the DoD family community requires courage to be vulnerable with one another and share our personal stories. To foster deep understanding of issues requires perseverance to commit time and effort to research, analyze, and create initiatives to solve problems. To advocate for policy improvements requires integrity to ensure we are conducting ourselves in a professional manner and staying within moral, ethical, and legal bounds.
Focus Areas – Expand Partnerships, Engage with the Military Family Community, Foster Deep Understanding of Issues, Advocate for Policy Improvements
1) We acknowledge MAA will not be the experts on all facets of an issue and want to Expand Partnerships with other groups and subject-matter experts. MAA believes that “many hands make light work,” and seeking key partnerships will bolster multi-year efforts to create change.
2)We can only provide value if we Engage with the Military Family Community. While articles and studies highlighting issues are a great resource for understanding impacts to the military family, nobody is better placed to voice these impacts then the military family members themselves.
3)MAA cannot offer solutions unless we Foster Deep Understanding of Issues affecting the military family. We are dedicated to doing the hard work and researching potential solutions to help the military family by performing a barrier analysis (i.e. discovering unnecessary impediments to accessing healthcare). In addition, MAA will conduct a gap analysis to compare military and private legislation and policy to ensure military healthcare is administered at an equivalent level.
4)We can only Advocate for Policy Improvements if we have accomplished the first three focus areas. MAA prefers to work with our partners to harmonize our efforts to achieve the best-case positive effect for military families. If required, we will lead efforts to improve quality of life for exceptional needs families.
Mission – Empower families to Advocate Without Reprieve to directly improve the well-being of our military community.
MAA can achieve its vision by harnessing the willpower and determination of volunteers dedicated to serving the military exceptional needs family. We will empower our families by providing knowledge and experience to equip them to advocate, embolden them to make a difference, and engage with legislators and policy makers.
